Low libido or boredom??

Is It Low Libido… or Just Boredom in the Bedroom?
You love your partner.
You love your life.
So why does the idea of intimacy sometimes feel more like a chore than something you actually want?
If your libido feels like it’s disappeared, you’re not alone, so many women I speak to say the same thing! But here’s something not enough people talk about:
It might not be your libido at all. It might just be… boredom.
Lets take a look at this in a bit more depth!
What “Low Libido” really Looks Like
Low libido isn’t just “not feeling like it tonight.”
It’s more like:
- You rarely (or never) feel desire—full stop (maybe you are on antidepressants, stressed with life)
- Even the idea of intimacy doesn’t spark much
- You feel disconnected from your body
- Things like stress, day to day life, hormones, menopause, or exhaustion are at play
Sometimes your body genuinely needs support. And that’s okay. Your self care is as important as the care that you give to everyone else.
Your brain is your biggest sexual organ and if you are feeling overwhelmed your brain will go into survival mode, helping you "get through your day to day" Desire starts in your brain and arousal is the response in your body.
What Boredom in the bedroom looks like
Now this is where things get interesting…
Because boredom can feel like low libido—but it’s actually very different.
You might be experiencing this if:
- You can feel desire… just not in the same old routine
- Everything feels predictable or repetitive
- There’s no build-up, no anticipation, a quick dig in the ribs is not foreplay
- You’re going through the motions, distracted, instead of enjoying the moment
- you want the physical touch but you feel like they want something from you because you dont always get your needs met
The spark isn’t gone. It’s just… unstimulated.
The truth no one tells you
Desire doesn’t always just show up. For many women, it’s responsive—which means it builds after things get started, not before. Spending the time to cuddle, shower together, gentle touch without expectation, enjoy the experience rather than thinking about the final result.
So if nothing is changing…
Nothing is building.
And your body? It simply stops responding.
Not because something is wrong with you—but because nothing is turning you on anymore.
A quick check-In with yourself
Be honest (no judgement here):
- Do I ever feel desire—just not in my current routine?
- Am I tired… or just uninterested?
- When was the last time something felt exciting or new?
- Do I feel pressure instead of anticipation?
Your answers matter—because they point to very different solutions.
So… what can you do?
If it is low libido:
Start with support, not pressure.
- Prioritise rest and reduce stress where you can. If you have a busy lifestyle be sure to take time for yourself to do the activities that bring you joy! (find your favourite song and dance, walk outside, read your favourite book)
- Reconnect with your own body first - if you have experienced body changes (pregnancy, menopause etc) - feeling sexy is a state of mind not a body shape, be kind to yourself.
- Address physical discomfort (because pain or dryness = instant mood killer) You may want to consider using an intimate daily moisturiser like nourishing drops that will add moisture to eliminate itch and discomfort. Body changes can mean you are not as wet as you once were so during intimacy use a good lubricant - check our waterbased lubricant that is gentle and pH balanced.
- Use products that help your body respond, not fight against it. Enhancement creams are perfect to help engage your brain, and your body will respond to the tingling sensations, increasing blood flow and arousal. These also come as a package
Small shifts can make a big difference. 1% change each day will make a significant difference over a period of time.
If it’s boredom:
This is your permission to mix things up. How can you change a boring sex life?
- Change the pattern (not the partner), It can be difficult when you are both busy but set time aside for each other each week, have a date night to spend the time to reconnect.
- Add something new—different position, different room in the house, sensations, different timing, different energy, take a hot shower together
- Build anticipation again (hint: it doesn’t start in the bedroom), this is where you could be sending fun/naughty texts to each other, a gentle touch as they walk past, talk about what turns you on, maybe try roleplaying
- Explore products that create excitement, not just function. Remote controlled toys are a great idea for this, if you are in the same room, something like the butterfly effect, or get nauti, or across the country there are options - app enabled toys allow you to keep the excitement and the passion alive despite your location. .
Because sometimes… one small change is all it takes to wake everything back up.
Here’s what I want you to remember
Your desire isn’t broken.
It’s not “gone.” Remember your brain is there to protect you so if you are feeling overwhelm or stress your desire is just hiding under all of the life events you are experiencing!.
And it definitely doesn’t need fixing, it may need more support, more stimulation, or simply… just trying something new
A little permission (because you deserve it)
It’s okay if your body has changed, talk kindly to yourself maybe even try using affirmations - I feel and look good every single day!
It’s okay if what used to work… doesn’t anymore. Try changing your perspective on what intimacy "should" look like and feel into your body.
And it’s more than okay to want more from your intimate life. Sex is an important part of life, its just that we get so busy and dont make our pleasure a priority.
Because pleasure isn’t a luxury.
It’s part of feeling like you.
Ready to feel something again?
If you’re craving more sensation, more comfort, or just something a little exciting…
Start small, self pleasure is a perfect way of identifying what your body enjoys.
Sometimes the right product isn’t about “fixing” anything—
it’s about helping your body remember what it’s capable of
